Back in Los Angeles

I've been back in LA since Monday the 2nd, and all has been decent. I've been working every day since then, but I do have today off thanks to some rain which cancelled some plans. I really enjoyed Las Vegas, and I liked walking up and down the strip, though I did not enjoy seeing the prostitute advertisements that people were passing out! It was pretty funny that they only handed them out to men, though. Every time I walked by one of them, they ignored my existence. Good. But the casinos were pretty impressive, and I got to take a picture with a bunch of birds on my head.

I was a little worried that they would crap on me. They did not.

The next day (I think it was Saturday) I went with my aunt and cousins to a lion habitat just outside of Las Vegas and I GOT TO PLAY WITH THE LION CUBS!!!!! They were so cute and fluffy and soft and adorable!! I wish I could have kept one!!!!
This definitely made me miss my kitties back in Arkansas, but at least I have my Stacy.

Since I have been back, I have done a little bit of shopping. On Tuesday I went to Target, Walmart, and Whole Foods. I learned the hard way to never, ever go back to Walmart AGAIN. I only went for my prescriptions, and I swear I thought I was going to get mugged, but then I remembered that I drive a 13 year old car and looked like crap, so I felt better. Yesterday I went to Ikea and bought a desk and some little things for around my apartment to personalize my space a bit more. I'll post some photos once I clean up my apartment, because it is unfortunately a bit of a wreck at the moment.

I've really missed my boyfriend Matt lately. This Wilco song came on my playlist the other night and I thought it was so appropriate and that it really showed my feelings about my life right now. On a different note, I found out that Jeff Tweedy of Wilco will be performing near me in LA for a few dates, but as my luck would have it, the shows are all sold out. Maybe another time.

On the Road

Since Sunday, I have been traveling for my job. I flew from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, which was a fantastic city. My only regret is that I did not get to stay for longer. I went to Temple Square and enjoyed the beautiful architecture, and the missionaries around were very helpful. I also went to the City Creek Center, which was a large, beautiful mall.

The Temple with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in the foreground.

On Tuesday evening I left for Las Vegas, and I am here until Monday. Honestly, I think Vegas is a little overrated. Everything just seems so fake and the cigarette smoke is unpleasant. Also, the tap water here tastes absolutely awful, what is up with that?! My hotel has a movie theater in it, so I may try to see Catching Fire

I really miss my dog Stacy though. I may call the boarding facility tomorrow and check and see how she is doing.

My Move to LA

Greetings all, and welcome to my first blog post. I cannot promise much, but you will be sure to find a healthy dose of mediocrity! As I type this, I am sitting with my dog in my new home in the city of angels. Also, you may be interested to know that this post has so far taken me 10 hours to write, due to lassoing and wrangling up my two very, very, very hyper active cousins. Don't get me wrong, I love them to pieces, but it's barely 9:00pm and I am ready for bed. My job until Sunday is to get kids ready for school, take them to school, pick them up, feed them, give them a bath, and put them to bed. It doesn't sound like much, but it is much easier said than done, trust me.

I've actually only been in Los Angeles for a little over a week. I moved from Fayetteville, Arkansas, where I attended college. When I moved out here I had to leave behind my two precious kitties and my loving boyfriend Matt. It makes me super sad to think about it, so I try to stay busy :( I do plan on seeing Matt some time for the holidays however. I still have not worked that out because I am supposed to work during that time, and my aunt and uncle... err... employers haven't worked out theirs and my schedule. (that sentence was probably completely grammatically incorrect but idgaf right now).

Anyway, I left Fayetteville on the 9th with my mom, first stopping in Amarillo, where we saw the Palo Duro Canyon. It was breathtaking in every sense of the word; my only regret was not being able to stay and enjoy the beauty of it for longer. After that we went to Albuquerque and stayed for two nights and did our own Breaking Bad tour, which was so damn awesome. Then it was onward to Phoenix. By this time the dry air was so, so awful that I was constantly chugging water. My mom and I went through 48 bottles of water in 4 days. I cringe at how wasteful that was, but unfortunately when you are road tripping you do not have much of a choice. The giant saguaros were pretty cool though. Honestly after we left Phoenix, the drive to LA pretty much sucked as far as scenery goes, although it was funny that literally right after we crossed to border into California everything seemed so much nicer, as in there was lots of irrigated land, fancy homes, nicer cars, etc.

A size comparison of me and a big ass cactus. If you can tell, I am holding my arms up, pretending to also be a cactus

I think in general I'm glad to be here. Or at least I'm as glad as I possibly could be, given that I'm missing my dear Matt and my kitties so much that it has actually brought me to tears. I will make the best of this though and try to save money and pay off my crippling student loan debt. Good night, y'all.
